FROM THE CITY OF FRISCO PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT:
Frisco initiated Stage3 Drought Restrictions on Tuesday, November 1. The city’s water supplier, the North Texas Municipal Water District (NTMWD), reports Lavon Lake could be dry by fall 2012, under worse case conditions.
STAGE 3 DROUGHT RESTRICTION GUIDELINES:
1. Please TURN OFF your sprinkler system.
Lawns and landscaping need little to no water in the fall and winter. Grass naturally goes dormant and its green color will fade. Leaving your sprinkler system off is the best way to stop unnecessary waste. Watering and planting cool season grasses, such as Rye, is not allowed under Stage 3.
2. Water only if needed.
Hand water your trees and shrubs and use soaker hoses around the foundation for no more than 2 hours on any day. If necessary, sprinkler system use is limited to your assigned day. Time-of-day restrictions do not apply from November 1, 2011 through March 11, 2012 (when Daylight Saving Time Begins).
3. Schedule a free sprinkler consultation.
Schedule your free consultation or contact us for a step-by-step instruction over the phone on how to make a water-saving seasonal adjustment to your controller that follows Stage 3 restrictions. Call the Public Works Department at 972-292-5800 or send an email to waterwise@friscotexas.gov.
4. Check online and sign up for emails.
Sign up for emails with drought alert updates with weekly lawn watering advice based on calculations from Frisco’s weather station at www.friscotexas.gov/water.
5. Water Restrictions Enforcement
Watering violations may result in a sprinkler system disconnection associated with fees and the possibility of a citation and court fines. If you receive a violation, call the Public Works Department at 972-292-5800 from 8am-5pm weekdays. Customers are encouraged to report water waste anonymously using Frisco’s Online Water Waste Report Form.
6. This is NOT a complete listing of restrictions for Stage 3. The entire Water Management Plan is available at www.friscotexas.gov/water. For more information call the Public Works Department at 972-292-5800 or send an email to PublicWorks@friscotexas.gov.
